Top 9 Funniest Mola Moments for 2008

This is a list of the top 9 funniest moments in our lives of this past year.

9. Black Out on Builders for Christ
One night, we were all playing games in a cramped hotel lobby when a massive storm hit! We lost all power but continued to play Catch Phrase in the pitch black night while teens with their cell phones kept taunting us.

8. Jennifer's Wedding
Brian's sister Jennifer was married this year in June and Brian and one of her friends were ushers. Brian's grandmother thought that her son was supposed to walk her down the aisle; well, when the other guy started to walk her down the aisle she freaked out and started hitting him saying "you're not my son"!

7. The Julia - Mola Bond
Our friends, John and Jessica, have an adorable little girl who just turned one. Ever since she was born, there has been a special bond between her and Brian. You should see them together - it is a riot!

6. Brian Mola Reaches 300 Owned Boardgames
That's right 300. Need I say more.

5. Trading Punches
Part A) On our wedding day, we wrote our own vows and I promised myself that I was not going to cry! Well, I lasted through his and when it was my turn to say mine I saw him about to tear up and I lost it. I was so mad that I started crying that I punched him in the arm as I continued my vows.

Part B) We spent the night at Brian's sister's house for Christmas Eve. I woke up in the middle of the night to a fist in my eye!!!! He hit me so hard that I was seeing stars! Brian says he was trying to get the blankets loose that were stuck and he accidentally hit my eye as his hand lost it's grip.
Merry Christmas to my eye...

4. My Pirate Proposal
Most of you have already heard or read about how Brian asked me to marry him. Just in case you haven't....He put me on a treasure hunt, starting it off with a card from a pirate board game we have. He took one of the cards and changed it by putting a picture of a toilet on it saying "report to the poop deck". From there I followed a series of clues until I reached my treasure. (All the while I had no idea what he was up to)

My treasure chest had a note in it saying that I took too long and I had to turn around and walk the plank. When I turned around he was standing there holding a little treasure chest....(I still didn't get it) I opened it up and it had a bunch of little coins in it...my pirate booty...I thought. Then he told me to keep digging and I noticed it had a false bottom.....one last clue was laying in there that said "Where your treasure is; there your heart will be also" I knew then and when I lifted it....there was the MOST beautiful ring in there that I had EVER seen!!!

3. A Wedding Day Flood
We had planned an outdoor wedding with a reception outside under a huge Cinderella tent.....
God had other plans. The rains came and almost washed away our huge tent. The water in my parents back yard came up to your calf in some sections. Those of you who were there know that we had to call everyone that morning and move everything inside at the church. It all turned out beautifully and it was a blast.

2. Christmas Tree....Belly Up
I put our first Christmas Tree up this year. A nice 6.5' tree that I then put up on a table so there would be more space (and less for the dog to reach). Well, in my brain it made sense to put all my pretty ornaments were I could see them....the front. I put EVERYTHING on the front of the tree. Before we went to bed that night Brian said..."hey, I think the tree is leaning." I told him it was fine and we went to bed. The next morning at 5:15am he comes into the room shouting...I told you that tree was leaning and now it fell over!!! So, I dragged my bum out of bed only to see my beautiful tree that I was so proud of laying on the floor all torn apart and strew about the floor. The dog had a guilty look on her face as I saw my little chewed up holly berries next to her.

Brian's face dropped as he noticed his favorite fire truck ornaments were broken as well. My eyes filled up with tears and I crawled back in bed. Later I woke up and did it all over again.
(this time going around the ENTIRE tree and tying the sucker to the window....just to be safe)

And the #1 Funniest Mola Moment of 2008 is.....
How I got the Nickname "Macaroon"
Our honeymoon to Jamaica was all inclusive and we could eat and drink as much as we wanted....and we did. There was a little French pastry place where they made fresh goodies all day long. Well, everyday I would go there at 3:00pm to get the macaroons!!! If I timed it right I could get them right out of the oven when they were still warm. Let me tell you they were so good!!! You couldn't have just one, no sir, I had to stuff as many as I could fit into my belly, they were so good.

Well, the last day we were there we decided to have the professional photographer take our picture by the beach at sunset. It was really nice and he was having do all these poses. One time he asked Brian to pick me up....And yeah, well his face turned bright red and he was shaking!!! The photographer asked him what was wrong and he said that I had eaten too many macaroons! We both lost it and were laughing hysterically. The photographer caught the moment on film!

Christmas Extravaganza

The Mola's experienced their first Christmas together!

It was amazing. Neither one of us could have asked for anything more. It was beautiful.
We both worked Christmas Eve until noon, came home and peeled potatoes, and then loaded up the truck for Naperville. Brian's sister Jennifer and her new husband would be hosting Christmas Eve dinner for the first time.
Dominic, Jennifer's husband, made the MOST DELICIOUS ham I have EVER tasted! I made mashed potatoes.....enough for an army....I made WAY too much! 5lbs too much!

After dinner we all opened our Secret Santa presents by the fire place. It was fun to see who had whom. Brian's mom had me and it just amazes me how well she knows me! I loved all my presents!!!

The next morning everyone woke up and the immediate family drove down to Leo and Carla's house to exchange some family gifts. That was a lot of fun too. In Brian's family they divide up who buys for who. I was assigned to buy for Brian's brother Danny, Dominic, and Jennifer. Jennifer was easy she gave me a list....plus she's a girl so that makes it fun! Danny only told me one little thing that he wanted....so....I bought him a bunch of stuff I think he needs like guitar hero underpants and a harmonica. hee hee! (that's what happens when you don't tell me what you want!!!)

And the worst...but funniest part....I forgot about Dominic!!!!! I had so much on my plate with buying presents for both families and friends and work and I had finals. So.....Christmas Eve eve at 9:00pm at night I looked at Brian and told him that I had forgotten someone. Right away we called Jennifer and made an emergency run to Target!

Then, we headed over to my family's house. My family is huge! Everyone was there except my brother Scott and his family. There was about 20 people there and 3 big dogs. We had random gift openings through out the day it was crazy......but fun. The best part was dinner when we all sat down together at the 3 tables!!!!

At our family we have had a Secret Santa exchange between the siblings since I can remember. This year I had Kristy...I don't remember ever having her so it was expecially fun to shop for her. Brian had Kevin and he did a great job picking out Kevin's gifts! Chris Manko had Brian and Trisha had me. They got us wonderful gifts!

Another big thing in my family is stockings....we all LOVE and look forward to the stockings!!! But....you only get one if you are a sibling or married to one. So, this year Brian had one and my mom had made his! It looked great; better than the ones you see at the store.

I also got to see my sister Kristy with her braces off and look at her new beautiful smile and play with her little 8 month old baby Hunter. He is sooooooo cute! My favorite part of this year with my family was seeing everyone open up the presents I got them. I loved watching their reactions.

Finally at around 7:00pm Brian and I had our own gift exchange at home. We had a limit of $40. I blew that and made sure I got the board game he really wanted "Adroid" along with the Starwars Trilogy on DVD and a new wallet. He on the other hand stuck to the limit.....but boy did he surprise me.

Every year Brian manages to knock my socks off by some awesome surprise and this year I didn't think he would be able to because of the limit....but......he sure did! When we left his parents house that morning he grabbed a HUGE wrapped present and put it in the back of the truck. I thought maybe his mom got him a big present and didn't want the other kids to see it. I forgot all about it. Later that night he brought it in the house and told me it was mine!!!!! I opened it thinking what could be this big and only be $40?????
Guitar Hero World Tour with the full band!!!!! Guitar, Drums and a Microphone!!!!!
I really, really, really, wanted that but I NEVER thought I would get it!!!!!! That awesome man saved all his Amazon.com Gift cards and spent them leaving a balance for him to pay of $35!!!!!!

Now that's smart!

It was truly one of the best Christmases either of us had ever had!!!!!

Of course I didn't bring a camera anywhere we went so I have no pictures....but I'm sure you have a mental picture by now! This was a long story and it's only a glimpse of the wonder that we experienced!!!!
